Searching on databases
I went to the EBSCO database.
I searched George Washington but it wasn't useful.
I searched George Washington biography but nothing came up.
I searched George Washington Childhood and nothing relating to him came up.
I searched just George Washington with all document types selected but still nothing useful!
I searched George Washington battles. I have found something!
It showed the battles George Washington was in!

I have found another one with George Washington battles.
I showed like the actual talk and movement in the a battle.

2 books I may use for this project
Founding Father- Rediscovering George Washington by Richard Brookhiser
George Washington- Leader of a New Nation by Mary Pope Osborne
George Washington- Leader of a New Nation by Mary Pope Osborne
12/10/10 Daily Journal (Searching on Library world)
I think the purpose of today's lesson was to learn how to find articles/databases and other kinds of research information. Also to learn how to use library worlds couple links and also to learn how to do citation. We also learned how much research types we needed for this project. For example, two websites, two books, two articles/databases, one other, and one citation program.
I will be able to take away how to search in more detail and cite information. I will be able to show them how to use limited searching and where to look for them. Also how to find sites that have them. In citation, I can show them the things needed for citing. I would also be able to show them programs that do citation for you with you giving them information.
My question at the end of this result is, since we know the research requirements, are we going to start doing something now? I wonder whether we are going to learn more requirements or if that was it. If that was it, I wonder how and what we are going to do next.
I think to my knowledge that the next lesson might be doing some kind of project started. From what I overheard, we are going to get our rubric soon. With that, I assume that we are going to actually get started and that we are going to get more serious. I think our next lesson is the start of our beggining in this project.

Experiences of searches
Live experience of searches (*=Good sites)
1.George Washington-too much searches. A lot of non-related sites.
* First site= sc94.ameslab.gov/TOUR/gwash.html A very good site of his information. One of the first sites shown. Content-Early life and career, French and Indian war, Virginia Politician, American Revolution, Presidency, and Retirement
Shows a short descriptive information.
It offers some information but all jumbled up. Does not show clearly. Ex:Childhood, Retirement. Just all together.
Fourth site= http://www.earlyamerica.com/lives/gwlife/ Many adds and too much hard to read information. Not enough information and childish.
2.George Washinton biographies Too much information, and hard to read.
3. George washington timelines
* First site= http://www.history-timelines.org.uk/people-timelines/02-george-washington-timeline.htm It shows a timeline of all he did. Very organized and easy to read.

Searching on the internet
The purpose of todays lesson was how I searched for my information. I first searched in Google George Washington but it was just way too much information. I was only able to find a couple good sites. When I searched more detailed like George Washington Biography/timeline, it was more detailed and specific. Still there were a lot of unneeded sites.
I will be able to teach people that when searching, in order to find something specific, you need to search specific. Since there are a lot of unrelated information, you will need to be very specific to find what you want.
The questions I have is how will I be able to find more detailed and concise information. I am wondering how I can only find information that I need. When I went detailed, it still showed unneeded information.
I expect that the next lesson will be grabbing information from the good sites we found. Since we tried looking for good sites, now I think we will try to take the important information we need from them.

Evaluating Website
On the internet, there is so much information. Since of this reason, you have to be careful of which sites to use. Even with such goods site like wikipedia, you can't trust them, because anyone can write information. For this reason, you must think carefully of what sites you use.
If there is so much wesites, how do we know if it is good? Well there are a couple things you can look for. The first thing you should look for is the name and when it was last updated. Most sites will show their name for credit and other reasons. If the site was updated more than 4 years ago, it may have errors or inaccurate information. On the other, if may not have errors or inaaccurate information, like biographies. That is just something you need to make the decision of.
The site should also be clear and you should be able to easily find information. Some sites may take you a long time to find information. They may also have information you are unsure of what they are saying. These kinds of sites are not goods sites to look for information. You should be able to find your information quick, without trouble. Also with no showings of typos, missspelings, or any kinds of error. These are the kinds of sites that will lead you to success. You will be able to do your research quick and efficiently.
Some more problems you may find are like adds, and trouble looking at the site. Sites with a lot of adds may have their purpose in money, and not with supporting you with information. Sites that are too slow, hard to look through links, and just give you troubles, may not have the purpose of helping you. When such things happen and give you doubt, look for a different website. Not all sites are good and helpful, some sites may be bad and lies. The best thing to do is search until you find the one that fits you.
Their are known to be a couple sites that may help. Snopes is known to show if a site is good or a scam. Go to the wonder wheel, type the site, and then it will show. Another site is known as Boolean. This is a type of search that is similar to google. In this site though, there are a couple unusual things you have to add to the words. First they have to be in caps lock, and second, they sometimes need synonyn quotation marks. With those unusual bad parts, there are also unusual good parts. Theyar are known as the plus and minus sign. The plus sign finds words associated with the first word. The minus sign takes out associated words. For example: Twilight+Bella+Edward will find things related with Twilight, Bella, and Edward. Another example: Colors-Blue-Green will find find things related with colors and exclude blue and green. Such are sites are useful when needed for particular searches.
With these information, researching and browsing will become more easier and more efficient. You will be able to know what sites are good, and what sites are bad. You will be able to know what sites are telling the truth, and what sites are lying. You will be able to know what other don't, and gain a advantage. You also have extra resources that help you more in search. When others spend hours on problems, you may be able to use Snopes and Boolean. With this information, you have now become a stronger searcher.
